Tammy Duplessie :My Mother

From Tammy Duplessie ( Moms Know Everything)

I don't post about my mother very often, actually I think I've only mention her once or twice before. My mother passed away almost 14 years ago on May 2 nd. We never really got along well together, we both have very strong personalities. I'm told I sound like my mother sometimes. My mother was diagnosed with cancer just before Christmas and she passed away 6 months later. Those 6 months my mother and I became really close. Me and my daughter moved in with my parents, my father was in his 70's and wasn't able to take care of her, so those 6 months I took care of her. I washed her, I feed her, I gave her her medicine every 4 hours, I took her to her chemotherapy 3 times a week, and I really got to know my mother as a person. It's a shame that a tragedy of her getting cancer is what took us to become close. Mother's Day was only a few days after her funeral and it was the hardest Mother's Day of my life. Since I'm a mom I know Mother's Day is supposed to be a happy special time for me, but to me there is a sadness about it thinking about my mother and the relationship that we could of had all those years.

Tammy, I know how you feel and I am so sorry about this. My closest time with my Dad was 3 months before he passed away because of cancer as well.. :-(( but I thank God for those beautiful memories.. *hugs*
