Never Ending Song in My Heart...
From Uncle Lee, Malaysia
My mother is a never ending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being. I may sometimes forget the words, but I always remember the tune.
My mother was strict, being a Nonya lady of many generations with all the good virtues handed down and she guided, showed, explained what is good, what is bad, and two advice I have never forgotten, she telling me, when I was 12 years old, "Lee, you will soon be growing up to be a man, do your best in whatever you do, and even if you fail, you can say you have tried. And never, ever spoil your good name".
I never forgot that.
In a way, my father taught me to be tough, my mother taught me to love.
I will not be what I am without both their guiding hands, their love for me, I may no longer walk in their shadows, but walk now in the light as they showed me.
